How long have you worked for Times-Union Media?

I’ve worked for Times-Union Media for over a decade, since September 2006. I had recently graduated high school and started working in our Classified Department part time on Obituaries & Legal ads. I moved into Retail Advertising in 2010 and moved into different sales positions until I started as a manager in 2015.

Why did you choose Times-Union Media?

I chose Times-Union Media because of the large portfolio it offers. I originally started with a focus on print and was able to move into digital as the advertising space changed.

What drew you to the digital marketing industry?

I love digital marketing! The space has made some huge changes over the last few years and continues to change every day. I enjoy consulting businesses on all the changes that are happening and how it could affect their business. The different tactics we use to place an ad in front of a future customer is pretty amazing. I also feel passionate about the change that social media has brought to so many businesses. It allows a business to reach out to their audience in ways that a website could not on its own. It also does a great job highlighting a business’s personality.

How are you set up for success at Times-Union Media?

I am always learning which continues to inspire me with what I do. We also have the ability to create custom marketing campaigns with our different digital solutions that will fit any type of marketing budget. This really helps me flex my creative muscles when working with different customers.

What is your favorite social media platform, and why?

I’ve really started to enjoy LinkedIn over the past few months. It is fun to be engaged with people in our industry all over the world. I’m always finding new motivating articles that help me with my craft and with leadership.

What do you enjoy most about working at Times-Union Media?

I really enjoy meeting new businesses on a daily basis and teaching them about digital marketing. Encouraging a business to see the world through their customers eyes online can change their entire marketing plan for the year and also help them achieve their different goals.

I also enjoy the incentives our management team creates for our teams. I love strategy games and I enjoy being a part of the process that encourages consultants to hit their goals. Our VP of Sales, Lana says it best when she says “Winning should feel different.”  We do a really good job at constantly changing the game to keep our teams motivated. Marketing is a very competitive space and we try to focus on keeping everyone passionate about what they do.

What is one fun fact most people don’t know about you?

Only 2 percent of the population have blue eyes and red hair. I’m pretty proud to be a part of that group.

What is your favorite inspirational quote or motto?

“The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.” – Will Smith
